Better travel and communication facilities and an increase in education have resulted in the inter-mingling of cultures. People now think in terms of migrating from one part of the world to another in search of better employment and educational opportunities.  

The world has become a melting pot of different cultures. English is a global language that helps people from different communities and cultures to communicate with each other. However, English has its limitations. It is spoken by about 5 to 6 percent of people in the world.

It makes sense in today’s context to learn a foreign language. Not only does knowledge of a foreign language helps us to learn about other people, it is also beneficial in other ways.

With the growth in travel, tourism and foreign trade opportunities, there is an increase in demand for foreign language interpreters and teachers. If in the current context, one is interested to learn a foreign language, the first question that needs to be addressed is to what language to learn.

In order to decide the language that you need to learn, you need to decide the region of the world in which you are interested. We can talk about the Middle East for instance. The majority of countries in the Middle East speak Arabic. It is the mother tongue of about 350 million people spread over 20 countries. If you are interested to study Arabic, then it is good to know that the US government provides incentives to people who know Arabic. The Middle East represents vast potential in terms of unexplored markets for commodities, goods and services.

Learning Arabic requires first of all that the student becomes familiar with the Arabic Script. It is not a simple task. However it can result in a number of benefits if we consider the sheer size of the Arab economies and their potential to absorb American goods and services.
